Calgary Beavers† - Beavers Season 14 Recap
The beavers season started like many of their seasons in Div 2, with multiple losses, 7 to be exact. The team then went on a great run of winning 8 in a row. They finished a modest 10th in the league, their best in two seasons. The playoffs then began. All series went the 3 game distance but the final placement game against a non manager team. With the dust settling over the final relegation game today, the Beavers will be headed to Div 3 to play next year.
The team went through a big change of player personal this season seeing 14 new faces and 14 leave. The biggest sale being Stan Doyon. He went for a whopping $255,256,313. This sale greatly helped the Beavers out with their facilities and area upgrades. The arena will have all been upgraded to triple max seating 5 days into season 15 and have a level 5 training facility started during the season as well. Other sales saw 9 regulars shipped out to make room for some younger prospects, who will get even more of a chance to play with the drop to Div 3 for next season.
In news of players still on the team, Alain Marshall continues to be leading a charge for the Beavers, being the first player on the team to reach the 1,000 overall mark, and being a hometown player, the fans have been able to enjoy watching his progress. The season will rely on Alain a lot, along with a few more rising stars in Beni Seidelmann and Wolter Bartmann, both from Germany. They have mentioned watching Stefen Engels and Ralf Pollmann come to Beavers and finish off great careers here as the reason they were so excited about the transfers to come to Calgary to play hockey. It looks to be a good year for Beaver hockey, some check out the first game of the season next monday at 10:00 mst whether it be at the Beaver Tail arena or with the teams soon to be announced new media sponsor at one of the many fine establishments around Calgary that will be showing the games.
