SAD Minnesota Frostbite - Frostbite Reach Playoffs for First Time in Team History

The Frostbite finished their season after qualifying for the playoffs for the first time in team history with a fifth-place finish in the regular season. After a pair of heartbreaking one-goal losses in the quarterfinals, the Frostbite finished fifth in the playoffs. "It was very exciting for our fans and our players to still be competing for promotion after the conclusion of the regular season," General Manager Joe said, "but we aren't done yet and hope to keep fighting to try to advance in the playoffs in the near future." The Frostbite also matched their best finish in the National Cup by advancing to the second round for the second straight season.

The team was led on the ice by Vince Mott (53G-78A-131P) and Milton Morris (45G-79A-124P) who have become admired players for the team. Mott became the first player in team history to record 400 career points, while Morris, Clint Winters, and team captain Phillip Cook all recorded their 300th career points. Melvon Bonner, Clint Hart, Lonnie Benoit, Matt Vandyke, and Jim Cuevas all logged their 200th career points, while Harry Chestnut, Thad Crocker and Donovan Dailey earned their 100th career points. Douglas Franklin, Cook, Benoit, Hart, and Bonner all scored their 100th career goals. Morris, Mott, Cook, and Winters logged their 200th career assists, and Vandyke, Ed Snow, Yusuf Pressley, Paul Arevalo, and Clyde Li reached the 100-assist milestone. In net, Gene Stephens and Patrick Black both recorded their 20th career shutouts.

In the international arena, Frostbite General Manager Joe coached the USA U-20 team to a 10th place finish in the Division I World Championships, thereby avoiding relegation and earning consecutive years in Division I for the first time in the last five years. General Manger Joe also served as chair of the organizing committee for a successful bid to host the tournament, allowing the team to play on American rinks.

Off the ice, the team continues investing in the arena and facilities, and is concluding a construction project that will expand its capacity to 2350.
