Marion Steamengines† - Two Steps Forward, One Step Back
It was a big month for the fledling Marion Steamengines and their owner/GM Himanoco. The CSX arena is still seeing the dust fly as it nearly tripled in size. Players from all over the world have been picked up and added to the roster to give some depth and bring some talent to the team quickly.
But after finishing the month of November with a 5 and 6 record in league play (since taking over), a disappointing road loss to open the month of December and next week playing three of the top eight teams in the league we have to wonder what is the future of Season 9 for the Steamengines?
"Sincerely, we talked about this when we came in to town," Himanoco was quoted at his post game press conference. "This season was half over, we were winless, and while I and the new staff have done what we can you can't expect miracles.
"What you should expect is the same as what you've seen - slow and steady growth. I'm very proud of the arena we have, the facilities we've developed and the teams we've put together both on and off the ice. If we can somehow get ourselves out of the bottom four before the end of the season, bully for us. If we can't, then we'll take what the future brings wherever the league thinks we should play.
"I promise you a new score board in Season 10, as well as continued development of the team. I promise you that we will be on the high side of .500 next season. And I promise you that we'll be in Marion for a good long time so bring the kids out to a game really soon so you can say that you were there when we got things really rolling."
