Bizan HC† - Bizan HC Falls to the Ravers
Bizan HC played a close game against the underdog Ravers club Wednesday at Sportsworld Crossing. BHC came into this game expecting to take the contest against the 15th seeded Ravers, and did not count on a spectacular performance in goal by the Raver's keeper Yves Hungerbühler. Hungerbühler arguably played his best game of the season against a rapid-firing BHC squad. He was unphased by the two first period goals and settled down to play the rest of the game perfectly. Ravers GM praised the teams efforts: "I think it was a great game. Our team played well and used 2 PP to make sure we would win it." The new acquisitions brought in to enforce a new gameplan has paid dividends, "Since I've been in charge the team as been playing way better with our current staff. I think we've got great chances [in] the playoffs even tho (sic) we had a bad start." The Ravers certainly impressed their new boss with a win over a higher seeded opponent.
BHC outshot the Ravers 27-17, but a poor defensive game cost the Bizanos dearly. Defensive breakdowns allowed the eager Ravers to catch BHC goalie Malý off guard and take the lead 4:10 into the third period on a neat play by Upis and Kintscher to set up Graham Mountfield. MacNeil sealed the BHC loss with an empty netter.
Bizan Head Coach Chad Gagne had harsh words for his team after the match: "Those kids out there need to finish their plays. We had so many odd man rushes and chances that we couldn't capitalize on." The missed shots and posts are another reason for concern, "This team has to figure out how to shoot quick, accurate shots if they want to make it into the playoffs, let alone contend for a championship. I need to see more focus out of them." Gagne, not known for chewing out his players was clearly frustrated at losing such a close game at this stage of the season. With some tough competitors coming up in the last 3 games of the season, BHC may find themselves on the outside looking in. They currently sit 1 point back of the 8th place Sherwood Park Allstars, and 9th place Seigneur de Soulange. Both teams finish off their season against weak opponents, so BHC will need to pull something out if they hope to make the playoffs.
