The Elmira Horse and Buggies will live to fight another day in III.2, thanks to a twelfth place post-season run that saw them extend their streak of finishing higher in the playoffs than they did in the regular season to 6 years.

"I thought, with the exception of the last game against Schrodinger, that we played well in the post-season," said team captain Marin Dascalu. "The guys worked really hard, we have a good young group of players coming in for the next season, hopefully we'll break out of our slump and make something happen this season."

None of the Buggies want to be playing spoiler at the end of this year. It's a position some of the long-time players are all too familiar with.

"We made the playoffs the first three seasons, and slipped down the standings the next three," said Ryan Archambault, the longest-serving player on the team. "Despite riding a huge wave of confidence when we advanced from IV.5 to III.2, we didn't really do much from the start. Now we have teams who have advanced after us beating us, meaning they've improved better than we have. Not good."

The team management, run by the company MitchDawgMuir, wouldn't return repeated phone calls. Instead they issued a press release, stating "The Elmira Horse and Buggies hockey club has been undergoing some management shuffling. We thank our devoted fans for continuing to stick with us and cheering for our beloved team. At this point we ask for more patience, as the changes we've made will begin to result in better on-ice performance at some point."

All the fans are hoping that "some point" will be soon.

"I really want them to start winning," said Ricky Miller, 9. "They're my favourite team because they're so close to my house and I get to see a lot of their home games, but it's not fun when they lose."

Hopefully, the fun will begin soon.
