Dunnville Mudcats - Off the Hook
(AP) Dunnville Mudcat team owner Mike D'Agostino was all smiles as he walked out of a Chicago area courthouse today, cleared on all charges stemming from a racketeering case which nearly brought his family business to ruins. D'Agostino had all indictments tossed out, including charges of money laundering and drug running stemming from a complicated triangular scheme involving Peruvian cocaine, US junk bonds and Canadian pilsner beer, after a weekend retreat with federal judge Thomas Anderson. Anderson, who was interviewed earlier in the day while leaving the D'Agostino family ranch in Denver, Colorado, appeared relaxed and rested after the two day meeting. Calling the D'Agostino family, "intense, sophisticated and extremely generous", Anderson confirmed that he was throwing out all federal charges for reasons he deemed to be, "private". In a related development, Mudcat President and General Manager Paul Roedb was cleared on charges of illegal junk bond selling after a local Ontario court dismissed the accusations due to a lack of physical evidence.
