Calgary Beavers† - Wolfpack Watch Week 5
The Wolfpack had a great week, winning all three league games and their National Cup game as well. The Big line of Stefen Engels, Ralf Pollmann, Bo Ellingsen, Ferdinand Závodský and Kazimír Chovanec had a great week, but were lucky to have lots of support against Les Scorpions for the final game of the week, as they were held pointless for the first time since being made a unit. They won't be able to let that happen if they want to make a push to get into the top of the league in scoring this year.
The Wolfpack have their National Cup game this week, and are heavy underdogs, but hope to use it as a learning experience and be able to use it to help them in the league the rest of the way.
The Wolfpack Arena has had some adjustments made to it as well, increasing the seating capacity from 800 to 1200 and are reporting looking into a few more options to increase the capacity even more as the Wolfpack are becoming a hot attraction in Shawnessy.
In other league news, the race for the top spots in the league is heating up with a few Nordique pulling off and OT win against the Winnipeg Warriors and another huge win against the Blakhawks 10 pts now separate 1st and 5th, and with some import games this week amongst those teams, the difference could end up a lot less. It's almost the middle of the season, and if you haven't checked out the Wolfpack yet, come on down and see the new arena and cheer them on to try to gain a few more spots in the standings.
