Brampton Cheifs† - Player Moves Update to Begin the New Year
With the beginning of a new year looming a few weeks ago Manager of the Brampton Cheifs Gillie who has been at the helm since about the mid point of last season determined that to compete in this league an improvement in the depth and skill of the Cheifs was needed.
Beginning 20 Days ago when he secured the transfer of a young 17 year old France prospect in Corentin Briard from the France team Boxers de Bordeaux who had 1 goal and 2 assists along with 14 PIM in 5 games played last season with the Boxers. Briard also spent time playing at the National Cup where he played in 1 game without registering a point. Corentin Briard is expected to start in the Cheifs next game after being injured shortly after his transfer to the Cheifs
Manager Gillie then continued looking for quality talent in young players just coming up through the ranks and signed two quality youngsters today including Latvian top prospect Elvis Cigulevs who is expected to become a top left winger the the Cheifs
The final transfer that Manager Gillie made was securing the transfer of 20 year old Slovakian Filip Penza from the SFC Scorpians. Filip Penza spent 2 complete seasons with the Scorpians prior to this year and in 87 regular season games with them raked up 30 goals, 25 assists along with 20 PIM, in last season playoffs Penza recorded 2 PIM and no points in 6 games and in his first season recorded 1 goal and an assist in 7 games with the Scorpians in their first playoff run 2 years ago also in 2 National Cup Tournaments has an assist in 4 games
