O' Fallon Outlaws† - Outlaw's Hopes Ride on New Acquisitions
The O' Fallon Outlaws have not had a great season. With only 4 points for the season, they sit at 19th in the III.10 division. Not all hope is lost, however. This week has been witness to a huge change in the Outlaws. There are many new faces in the teams top spots. First goalies Roberto Filgueiras and Martin Pilat have been brought in to improve on poor goaltending recently. Then Mauro Saraiva was acquired to try and give the Outlaws a scoring threat on the left side. They all helped the Outlaws to win their first game in their short history. Now, after an fractured left wrist knocked Captain Lewis Lehman out for 13 days, GM Austin Dwyer has brought in the best and latest wave of new faces that could get O'Fallon to new heights.
In the past 2 days, Dwyer has brought in marquee free agents Tomasz Czarnocki and Lörinc Várbíró, as well as well as solid defender Jack Jarrold and speedy center Arne Melhus
Czarnocki, a Polish winger, will hopefully add a scoring touch to a team that ranks last in goals scored. Acquired from I.1 BTS Mokre for $3,500,000, he will lead this team as the line 1 right winger
Várbíró, a stalwart Italian defender, was signed to help keep the puck out of their own zone in the absence of Lewis Lehman. The 19 year old was paid a hefty $4,300,000 to play on the team. These two players high signing fees and big salaries have made the Outlaws dangerously close to becoming bankrupt.
Brit defensmen Jarrold was brought in on impulse to try and improve on their already solid blue line corps. He has not really had a chance to prove himself, but his play quality is excellent.
Finally, Norwegian center Arne Melhus was signed by Dwyer for a nice $10,000. "This was armed robbery." says Dwyer, " we got this kid for real cheap, and I know that he's gonna do great things for us."
All these free agent signings have brought around a new 1st line that has no returning players from the Outlaws first win agains the Las Vegas Thunder. It has also made O'Fallon a team struggling with money problems. With so many good, young players now on the ice for O' Fallon, however, wins are going to come a whole lot easier. And no one is going to be complaining about that.
