Marion Blue Racers† - New blood in the League
A throwback to a long time coach/gm, Mansfield is the son of Himanoco (who had the Marion Steamengine franchise for 10 seasons) brings the squad back to the area, this time under the Blue Racer name.
"I learned a lot from Himanoco - early development, crowd support, some of the mistakes he made about staffing in the early going...it's all going to help out," Mansfield said when this reporter caught up to him.
"I do wish we had the old CSX stadium (sadly that building was torn down). I'm glad the name is back and we're just going to have to work to rebuild it."
When asked about this season, Mansfield laughed. "We joined the league about halfway through. I had to wait about four games to even think about getting some progressing going. That being said, we've got a full roster of friendly games so there is something going on almost every day, we have a new group of faces in the locker room and I'd go so far as to say that we are now easily the most dominate and skilled team in the league.
"We'll win out, and we'll do well in the playoffs. We just need to see faces in the stands and I'll make sure the rest is taken care of."
Strong predictions from a legacy. Here's hoping Himanoco taught him well and we can expect big things in the future for the franchise.
