Dunnville Mudcats - Slippery People
(AP) Dunnville Mudcat boss Paul Roedb has once again avoided major legal action against himself when it was revealed earlier today that the envelope involved in a bribery scandal exposed earlier this week actually contained invoices, not cash, as was previously believed. The package in question, seen being passed from Roedb to an unnamed PPM official in a social network video leaked a couple of days ago, was stuffed with receipts ranging from taxi receipts and restaurant bills,to less savoury transactions, including massage parlours, escort services and hastily scribbled notes on the back of napkins, apparently from well-tipped table dancers. The total of the receipts was reported to be in the neighbourhood of $25,000 USD.
The video, of poor quality yet clearly showing Roedb attempting to influence a league official, was purportedly made just before the Mudcats drew the highly-favourable match-up with Division I Think Tiger, a game that will provide the lowly Mudcats with much needed extra revenue. Calls to the team's headquarters were handled through team attorney Ed Valentine, who called the findings, "regrettable", "mis-directed" and "highly embarrassing considering the rather sordid source of the invoices."
