Dunnville Mudcats - Hot Water
(AP) Mudcat GM Paul Roedb is back in hot water today after a video surfaced on social networking sites today allegedly showing the embattled Dunnville boss bribing a PPM official to get a favourable draw for the 3rd round of the National Cup. The grainy, poor quality clip shows Roedb sitting across a table from a man dressed head to toe in PPM marked gear. The audio, barely audible, becomes somewhat clearer as the 45 second clip continues so that Roedb can be heard saying, "...playing, you know, Think Tiger...<inaudible>...they have a big ass arena...<inaudible>...high revenue potential." Roedb then can be seen pushing a large, thick, lumpy envelope across the table. The unnamed PPM official places one hand on the envelope, turns towards the camera, and then states clearly, "So, you want me to accept this?" The camera then closes in on Roedb's face as he flashes a wide grin and gives the official an exaggerated wink. The clip then comes to a close. The Mudcats drew top division Think Tiger later Thursday night in a game which will guarantee the struggling Mudcats a hefty payday, more than $4 million to lose the contest.
Questions to the team's headquarters were handled by Mudcat head legal representative Ed Valentine, who said the entire video, "smacked of entrapment". Yet when pressed as to why Roedb seemed unaware that he was being set up, especially considering the over-the-top outfit worn by the unidentified Power Play Manager executive, Valentine declined comment.
