Canada Calgary Beavers† - Black Dragons Season 8 Week2

This week saw the Black Dragons continue their winning ways. Even though they gave up their first goals against of the season in a 7-3 win over Sénateur d'Ottawa, they then got back to defensive hockey with a 7-0 win over Wizzards-Qc. This set up a game of undefeated teams in the league on Friday between the Dragons and Winnipeg Warriors. It was the Dragons 1st sell out and a close fought game, but in the end the Winnipeg team was just to much for the Dragons, and pulled off a big 3rd period to win 6-5 and give the Dragons their first defeat of the season. It was a good game, with the Dragons taking a lead on their first shortie of the year, The Warriors quickly countered while still on the PP to tie the game at 1, they would switch another goal each to end the 1st at 2-2. The Dragons got the only goal of the 2nd period off a PP goal of their own by Wolter Vanotti. The 3rd would be the sword that took the Dragons down, the Warriors capitalized on another PP to take the lead, and were just to much for the Dragons as the game went on. The Dragons tried to push back, and did tie it and makes it interesting at the end of the game, but you could tell they just didn't have enough in the tank at the end of the game.
In a press conference with GM JBrady afterwards he had this to say about the week of hockey. "We are still a new team to the league and have a lot to learn, we made a couple mistakes this week, and hopefully they don't end of costing us" when asked what he meant by that, he went on to say, "we set up a training camp a day late this week, which means we will have to face the Blakhawks next week without some of our better players, I don't know how this happened, we just need to work the kinks out and we should be fine". When asked what he thought of the season so far, he said "we are happy with the team, Didzis Kaucēns has come and made some good saves, and with 4 shut outs this year has given our young guys some stability. He has also been named the day all star 4 times, something no one else has done in the league, he has also been the only all star from our team". When Didz was asked about this he said in broken English "it's just me out there, it's a whole team, we have used all 4 lines, and most of our spares in games so far, the way this team is coached and plays to win, I am just happy to be a part of it, and have another chance to play hockey".
Looks like the Dragons are building some team chemistry and character, hopefully it is a sign of things to come, and they will be able to continue showing the fans great games of hockey.
