Calgary Beavers† - Wolfpack Watch Week 4
In late breaking news to end week 4 of Season 8, the Black Dragons HC have changed their name to the Shawnessy Wolfpack. This is the statement released by the board of directors for the Wolfpack. "We started off as a scrub team with a random name we saw on a billboard, now that we have made a name for ourselves and picked a home arena, we decided to go with a new name." The rumors behind the name is that the team bonded over the movie the hangover when everyone wanted to join the wolfpack in the movie. All the players felt like outcasts, coming from teams that no longer wanted their services, and have formed a wolfpack of their own, so naturally the name stuck for the team. The changes to the team should be updated as logos's, jerseys, and the team puck is released.
In other news, the Wolfpack had a great week, winning their 3 league games by a score of 40-7, they also won their first National Cup game of the season 7-3. With these wins, they have moved into 4th place in the league. They have their work cut out for them if they want to stay there though, as there are quite a few teams on their heals and with tough games against the North Bay Wonders and Les Scorpions they have to keep fighting for a playoff spot. They also have their 2nd National Cup game this tuesday against the arenas de beauport a team that looks about even with the Wolfpack, it should be a great game.
The Wolfpack were not quite on the player front yet again, picking up a couple of defense men, Kazimír Chovanec and Andrejs Tabaks. Both of these guys have contributed offensively picking up 5 and 4 points respectively. They didn't stop there, picking up a couple forwards, Boris Popovič and today getting Stefen Engels. Int he two games Boris Popovič has played he has helped out the offense getting 5 goals, but more importantly lighting a fire under Robert Selan who got 4 goals in those two games, and now leads the Wolfpack with 11 goals in 9 games. (he missed a week while off in training camp, which seems to have helped his play)
Other highlights this week, Ferdinand Závodský was paired with the newly acquired Kazimír Chovanec to get 8 points including a hat trick with Kazimír Chovanec getting 5 points on the night. With all the changes going on, and the Wolfpack wins, the team has upgraded their seating by 50%, so come on down and check out the the Wolfpack as this team of misfits continues to try to climb the ladder in League IV 9, which they are doing quite a good job of so far this year.
