Jackson Jaguars† - Jaguars to Face Americans in Season 1 NC Rematch
The Jaguars are back in the National Cup Quarterfinals, in the familiar position of staring down a League I.1 favorite.
Tuesday's game between the Jaguars (13) and Americans (4) is a rematch of their Season 1 NC match in the Final 16. In that game, the Americans beat the Jaguars 6-1.
That season, the much younger Jaguars team was seeded 92nd overall. In Season 2 the Jaguars moved up to 27th and made the Quarterfinals before losing 6-0 to the Irresistable Force (1).
This season, the Jaguars are seeded 13th, and are looking to surprise one of the top-performing teams in the USA.
The Americans are favored in large part due to their stellar goaltending, while the Jaguars would need a near-perfect game from backup-turned-starter Russell Lind to have a chance at an upset.
"Look," said defenseman Sam Beam, "This will be a terrific opportunity to find out what our boys are made of. You only truly get better by playing those better than you."
"Unless you're playing the Force." he added. "Nobody gets better being beaten that badly. We should know!"
The Jaguars have outscored their opponents 27-5 in this season's National Cup. The Americans have outscored theirs 36-6.
