Canadá Calgary Beavers† - Wolfpack Watch Week 9

With the second half of the season now underway, the Wolfpack have not stopped making moves to try to improve their team. Bringing Zrinjski Mostar and Radomil Klim to the team over the weekend along with Drahomír Drobec earlier in the week. JBrady had this to say about the transfers, "I think we have a real opportunity here to be one of the best teams in our league, we needed a couple minor improvements, and I think we have been able to pick them up, we will always try to improve our team for the fans" Some hockey experts are saying that this will be the week to see if JBrady's moves have paid off. They are playing the 3 teams they didn't beat in the first half of the season, the Winnipeg Warriors, Blakhawks and brampton blitz. It will be a good week to test and see how the additions are paying off, or if this young team has more growing pains to continue to compete with some of the top and more established teams of the league.
We caught up with captain Stefen Engels after practice today and he had this to say about the team. "I have not been here the whole season, but it feels like management is committed to winning and it feels great to play for them. If you look at the players that have been brought in, they have played on some of the top teams in their league and they know what it takes to win. It takes a little time to gel, but things are going very well for us and it's a pleasure to be part of this franchise." Bo Ellingsen and Ralf Pollmann added that they agreed, as this new 1st line seems to rarely do anything not together. This team does seem to be bonding as we overheard Ivan Měšťánek betting how many shots it would take team leading goal scorer Ralf Pollmann to score on him at the end of practise breakaway competition. (Ivan won, took Ralf 4 shots to finally get one by him)
The race for the top playoff spots are heating up in the league, with Sans Antonios Stars loosing their GM, it has allowed the brampton blitz to advance to the 8th seed. The Les Scorpions have also been seen adding players to their team, and look to make a strong push to get into the top 8 at the end of the regular season. The Wolfpack are in a tight race of their own, only 6 points back of the league leading warriors in a tie with Kicesie. They also have Blakhawks, and Mighty Ducks Of Stoneham 4 and 8 points behind them respectively.
The Wolfpack have also just signed a viewing deal with your neighborhood pub to have their away games televised by Olympic TV their media sponsor. Check out the away games this week, and come down and cheer them on as they take on the blackhawks on Wednesday.
