ZDA Cleveland Intrepid† - PLAYOFFS!

The 5th seed it is! After falling to the 6th spot with losses to the division leader Boston Bashers and 2nd seed Hellcats. The Intrepids came back with important victories against the Slap Shots and Tuscaloosa Elephants. In the final game and down by a point in the standings Goalie Leon Maas played a stellar game, stopping 24 of 25 shots against a powerful Tuscaloosa offense.

After the game Maas said, "We knew what we had to do. Our goal was the 5th seed and we knew we had to win to get it."

After playing to a 0-0 tie in the first period Defenseman "Stache" Guman opened the scoring on the PP, making the score 1-0. Walker Dewey tied it under 2 minutes later with a slap shot. But "Sweede" Sjostrom buried the puck just before the period ended to put the Intrepid's up by 1. The third period was all Maas as he stopped 10 Tuscaloosa shots, sealing the victory and the 5th seed.

Now the Intrepids must face a worthy opponent in their arch enemy, and 4th seed, Hail to the Capitals. The Intrepids chased the Caps all season and finished 7 points behind them. "This is what we wanted all season. This is why we played so hard. The Caps are in for a surprise if they think we are going to roll over," said Captain, and leading scorer Kadeem Garvey.

"We're ready," said Coach Gabriel Bastrzyk, who led the team to their best finish ever. If there's going to be an upset in the playoffs, this is where it will happen. "Our top line is one of the best in the league. I'll put them against anyone." Not many can disagree. The line of Begot-Garvey-Sjostrom combined for 90 goals and 234 points. They will be a force to be reckoned with during the playoffs. That being said the Caps owned the regular season series 2-0, outscoring the Intrepids 10-4. The Playoffs start Friday.
