BOLTS† - The direction of the BOLTS new ownership
After going dead last in there first season in the league, and only placing one better in the second, the BOLTS finally seem to be under the right direction. Half way through the season the selling of the team was finally through, and the BOLTS have not looked back since. Half way through the season they were only sitting one better than the previous season before forcing the league to take them seriously.
Owner Steven Cote immediately started to adress the problem upfront by adding key ingredients to a dish that seemed to be going horribly bad.
Bringing in the likes of Vladimir Maskaev from the Russian third league, who was recently been named assistant captain has started to bring an offensive spark to a much struggling, and less offensive team posting 10 goals and 13 assists in only 18 games.
"I came in here not really knowing what to expect, I was used to a much faster and strong league from the Russian league and was disappointed to leave my home country. The BOLTS gave me an offer that made it hard to refuse, a chance to play on the top two lines which was the chance I had been waiting for." Vladimir smiled, seemingly warming up fast to his new team, an addition that seems to be invaluable.
"At the time I was very hesitant on spending so much of the little money I had left on the kid. One thing he definetely did do was make sure that every penny I spent came back in ten fold. I couldn't be happier with Vladimir. He felt disowned back at home and I felt that something this team really lacked was the star power he would provide. I took a gamble and he is really paying off. Now he is a BOLT, something that I wouldn't, he wouldn't and most importantly our fans wouldn't have any other way."
As the season is winding down to a close the BOLTS seem to be desperately trying to catch up to get up to that 8th seed, which would cause them to play a very dangerous TEAMRBK team. Which to most would seem to be a failure to miss out on the playoffs, but the fans are happily surprised at even being mentioned at the running of the playoffs.
"When I took over the team, we were really at the bottom of the barrel. The team was struggling badly, the fans were tired of a losing team and the showing that they had paid to see. If you told me about two months ago when I bought the team we would have had a chance at the playoffs, I would of told you to check your self in at the mental hospital."
And the owner didn't stop there, on the topic of next season.
"I felt that this league had a couple of teams that really seperated themselves from the pack this year. TEAMRBK and Huggy Bears have been really strong teams and all honestly deserve to be playing up. For us to come out there, and try and prove that we belong with them speeks immensely about our club. With those two possibly advancing next year, anything short of a deep run next year will be a dissapointment. Everyone within the organization wants it, and I'll be damned, were good enough."
