Allegany ThunderCats† - Uncertainty Ahead
Two months ago it would have been easy to mistake this rag-a-muffin group of players as an AHL calibre team. But now, in what can be called the most eventful season in the ThunderCat's history, the team has seen an ownership change, the name of the team changed, the jersey design changed, twice, and an entire overhaul of the team from top to bottom.
Although the team finished the season strong, winning 5 of it's last 7 contests, the team was unable to salvage a playoff birth out of this season. However, the team is confident that they can pull off an upset in the secondary playoffs and take 9th place.
With a late season injury to star RW Igor Tkachenko, the team had to dip into the open market with two late season pickups, Centre B. Zanini and RW Y. Druesne. While Zanini was able to play in the season finale and prove he would be a good fit, putting up 6 assists and a goal, Y. Druesne has yet to even practice with the team. Y. Druesne will arrive early tomorrow morning and meet the team before the game.
Y Druesne will be filling in for the injured Tkachenko, which will allow O Sirenko to return to his natural position and centre the first line. The coach also said he planned on shuffling a few other players, both forwards and defensemen, in an effort to increase the offensive side of the team.
Tomorrow is game 1 against team Lardass in the secondary playoffs, and promises to be an interesting game in what could be the toughest matchup of the playoffs for the ThunderCats. Hopefully as few late season additions and some line jumbling can help spark an increase in the offensive side of the Thundercats. Defensively they are the best team in the league now, but you need to score to win a game...
