Minnesota Frostbite - Frostbite Hoist Third Place Trophy
The Minnesota Frostbite finished their season by winning the third place trophy for the third time in the last four seasons. The Frostbite also reached the third round of the National Cup for the fourth straight year and had a top three regular season finish for the third straight season. "After not brining home any team hardware last year, we were hungry and excited to lift a trophy," said general manager Joe.
Young defenseman Henry Godfrey had a stellar season for Minnesota, earning a spot on the season long all star team by finishing fourth in defensive scoring. Godfrey also recorded two career milestones, registering his 100th career point and then his 100th career assist in the same season.
Star center Vince Mott finished 9th in league scoring, and recorded both his 900th career point and 500th career assist.
A variety of other Frostbite players also recorded career milestones, led by wingers Clint Winters and Milton Morris both scoring their 800th career points, 500th career assists, and 300th career goals. Clint Hart scored his 600th career point, Matt Vandyke reached the 400 point milestone, Clyde Li recorded his 300th point, and Adrian Chavez, Alexander Dennison, and Tom Demers all joined the 100 point club. Ed Snow recorded his 300th career assist, and Donovan Dailey added his 200th career assist. In goal, Patrick Black recorded his 70th career shutout.
In the international arena, GM Joe coached the USA U20 team for a ninth straight season, where the team secured a fourth straight year in the Top Division, matching the longest such streak in American history. At the U18 level, Robert Turpin and Damon Winsted became the first two players qualify for one of USA's national teams, with Turpin appearing on the World Championship roster as USA's backup goalie.
Also, the Frostbite completed an arena expansion to 3600 seats. "Our fans are rewarding us with their enthusiasm," Joe said, "so we are going to do our best to return the favor and keep working towards playing for a championship and promotion to the top level.
