Vancouver Giants† - Giant Report - Issue 5
The playoffs have ended and once again, the Vancouver Giants were given an early exit from the postseason. Classic defeated the Giants in three games to keep the Giants in II.2 for their fourth season. It was most frustrating for the Giants, who dominated Game 3 against Classic, only to bet met by a hot goaltender in Allan Martindale, who kept them scoreless for the first 59 minutes in the final game. We are disappointed in our performance again this playoff, we are turning into the San Jose Sharks of the PPM” was said by head coach Yannick Abrahams after their elimination. After the playoffs, Vancouver pulled themselves together and swept Rimouski HC and beat Falcon to finish 5th, their highest finish in this league. In the end, my prediction from the last press release was correct as the Incredible Foes won the league (thanks to Classic pulling his top players). The Giants are relieved to not face them in league play next year, but know that there will be a top team replacing them next season.
As the next season approaches, the Giants made an exciting announcement concerning their fans. Manager Javi Coro announced that they are adding a double floor stadium extension to their stadium that will be completed before the playoffs in season 5. After the construction ends, the stadium will have a capacity of 3850. “Giants tickets are in high demand right now, they are becoming hard to get with our limited capacity and we want all of our fans to be able to enjoy this level of hockey” Coro said during the press conference. Along with this, they will continue to push their facility constructions, hoping to get 4, possibly 5 facilities above level 10 by the end of next season.
The soccer branch of this club, Vancouver FC, is having a season to remember as they start their quest for the II.3 crown. They are in first place by 2 points as they reach the quarter pole in this season. Players Griffin Halliday, James MacNeil, and brand new superstar forward Alberto Sheron are each providing goals, while keeper Chris Jensen has only allowed 3 goals in 11 league games, by far the lowest in the league. In today’s contest, they defeated Cougars de Chateauguay 3-0 in National Cup action, sending them to the third round. On Sunday, Vancouver FC plays a grudge match against their rivals, the Ragateene Rabbits, in a battle of the top 2 teams in the league. The Giant report will be providing updates on the current state of Vancouver FC, as the owner is too cheap to purchase a pro pack in soccer as well.
