The Guelph Gryphons perhaps should not have taken their opponent on Friday as lightly as they did. Guelph found themselves behind just 26s into the game and tied at two heading into the third. Noname 12800 was not able to hold off the third period pressure of the Gryphons but certainly raised some eyebrows with their performance.

"I think we came in here a little too full of ourselves. We clearly can't keep taking weaker opponents lightly as it may come back and bite us. Thankfully things didn't get too ugly too quick and we were able to turn the ship around and get the win we came for" said captain Guy Richard who had 1 assist and was even on the night.

"We can't keep coming into rinks and expecting the three points to be handed to us. I mean, just because we have secured top spot doesn't mean the other teams aren't playing for something. Noname 12800 played with real conviction tonight as they are trying to stay out of the relegation ranks. Our remaining two league games are against such opponents although they have all but solidified their spot in the standings as well" said head coach Stubbs. Stubbs further added, "we need to expect performances from our go-to players. They have to perform. That is the bottom line. We carry lots of players so if someone isn't going then someone else is going to get their chance. That is the business. I'm here to get wins, and to make sure we play up to our standards. Tonight was not a night I am particularly pleased about. There will be no further questions as I need to address my team."

The Gryphons now have a home and home with their highway 7 rivals the Kitchener Canucks. Look for a highly contested affair with lots of rough stuff to go around. The Gryphons and Canucks will be looking to set the tone should they meet in the playoffs.
