Канада Royal City Redshift - Gryph News - Vol 1 Issue 40: Gryphons Win Two Against Chilean Outfit Violadores F.C. to Close Out the Second Season's Friendlies

The Guelph Gryphons played a home and home with Chilean outfit Violadores F.C. this weekend. The Gryphons won both games, taking home two wins by a combined score of 12-1. The lone Violadores F.C. goal was scored with 8s left in the first game wrecking what would have been a perfect weekend for Ian Garnett.

"I've been working hard to play a bigger role with next years team. I think the effort is starting to pay off. I hope the coaches see my work ethic and where I am trying to bring my game. I love to compete and want to do everything possible to get the team atop the II.2 standings this season" said Garnett who is a strong candidate to play a considerable number of games this year despite Tim Newton's strong hold on the starting job thus far.

The Gryphons received scoring from all lines this weekend with only Spencer Gregg and Gord Ferdinand not getting on the scoresheet in the two games. A different lineup is expected for the start of the third season as 11 Gryphon regulars will return from their second training camp this year.

"We wanted to give them a little special-focus training as well as boost the moral on the team. We want to have a cohesive unit moving forward. With several players on their way out at the end of this season moral tends to take a dip a bit. We wanted to ensure that our players do not feel like they are being shipped out" said Mark Clode the head GM who has received mixed response from his accountants with the sponsor deals he signed.

The Gryphons are currently the 9th ranked team in the country based on OTR, yet have signed deals that do not compare to those teams around them. Clode is a marketing specialist and will surely have his work cut out for him in the long haul if he cannot allocate some more funds to keep the Gryphons competitive against the top-flight clubs in the years to come.

That is this season's final installment of Gryph News. Thanks for reading!
