Telford Taipans† - Telford Taipans 4 - 2 London Onyx
The Taipans crowned the opening of their new stand with a 4-2 victory over the London Onyx. The Onyx started quickly and caught the hosts cold with 2 goals inside 3 minutes. However, by the end of the first, the Taipans had pulled level, adding a goal in both the second and third periods to take the victory.
Coach Oswin was pleased with the victory, although conceded that his team need to be more clinical. 'We created quite a few chances tonight, but didn't take all that many; in the end, we needed a shorthanded goal to make the points safe'.
The shorthanded goal came after new signing Martin Durica was given a penalty. At the whistle for the penalty, one of the Onyx players confronted Durica and pushed him, leaving Oswin amazed only Durica was given the penalty. Perhaps aware of possible repercussions, Oswin remained tight lipped after the game, although his reaction during the game made his feelings clear.
Oswin's signings seem to have made an impact, with Kane Connolly in goal looking assured after a nervous opening two minutes and Jerzy Lisek making himself an instant fan favourite with a brace.
Oswin's men have a day off tomorrow and return to League action on Wednesday against Colders, who are currently two places above the Taipans. Another large crowd is expected at the Snake Tank.
