Further to the previous release, Graham Walters and Joe McGuckin stopped play at 6:12 of the third period when they got invoved in some extracurricular after the fact fisticuffs following a cheap shot on Walters from McGuckin. As in the second frame, El Chupacubra kept up the heavy pressure and the shots kept coming. Champs was having a busy day in the pipes to start the season but it looks like he was up to the task and with 1:30 remaining veteran winger Connor Kilford beat Geoff Newton after a cannonading drive from the point by Marek Olah ricocheted off the boards out front of the net, leaving Newton stymied.

The game ends 5-4 thanks to a first period barrage by the North Stars and the once again brilliant netminding by Champs. The Stars were outshot 33-21 but come out on top.
