加拿大 Bow Valley Buccaneers† - Buccs Bounty - Season 4 Issue 2

With another lackluster week behind us, something has to be done to right this ship the Buccaneers are sailing right now. Only one weak win against noname 48729 has many fans wanting the general manager to press the panic button. Changes have been made to the team this week, demoting Steve Alcide from head coach position and hiring Alexei Halttu from Saama of league III.16 of the Finland Conference. Haltuu had this to say in his opening press conference. "This team has to be better. I see so much potential in these young boys, so much skill in both ends of the ice, but it hasn't been exploited correctly yet. That is what I am here to do. Make these boys into men. I have seen victory in Finland (won league III.16 in season 2) and I hope to bring it to the Bow Valley area"

When asked about highly touted prospect Tony Kwan, he was adamant in developing his skills before throwing him into the fire. "We have a long season ahead. I know many of you are waiting impatiently for Kwan to debut as a Bucc in a league game, but if you want to him to become a leader of this team for many years, you are going to have to be patient. I will not play him until he is ready to excel on this team"

One has to wonder as a reporter how long the team can wait for Kwan to develop, as they need scoring now. Another dismal week in which they only won a single game against Team Noname 48729, they are really going to need to find some scoring from within to keep their heads above water in III.2. Below are some quick game recaps and a quick look at next week.

(3 stars picked by Buccs Bounty staff)
Game 4 - March 29 - Bow Valley vs Snowbirds
Coming off a strong weekend of friendlies and a big win in Toronto on friday, the Buccaneers were very confident they would take 3 points at home. But the Bow Gardens have not been a friendly place for the Buccs this year, as they drop to 1-3 on the season with a 5-2 loss. They came out with a strong 20 minutes, taking a 2:0 lead, but then decided to coast the rest of the game, and another poor effort by Janez Grašič resulted in 5 goals being scored in the final 40, and some very angry fans leaving the building. In the aftermath of this game management demoted Alcide as head coach and decided to hire Haltuu.
3 Stars:
1. Ethan Read SB (1G, 1A)
2. Dominic Neal SB (2A)
3. Jiří Pavlas SB (26 saves)

Game 5- March 31 - Bow Valley at Ice Monkeys
Excitement filled the air in Monkey Memorial Arena as the teams took to the ice to face off in a rematch of league IV.7 finals. A friendly game took place on tuesday between these 2 teams that resulted in a 3:2 SO win for the Ice Monkeys, which only fuelled the fire for this Wednesday matchup. Strong efforts put forth by both teams, in particular goalies Grašič and Lawson, but in the end the Ice Monkey's continued their dominance over the Buccaneers as the Buccs struggled to find the back of the end again, ending in a 2:1 decision.
3 Stars:
1. Patrick Lawson ICE (20 saves)
2. Janez Grašič BV (31 saves)
3. Leroy Dobbs ICE (1 Goal)

Game 6 - April 2 - Bow Valley at Team Noname48729
A win when we expected a win. Not much else can be said, very lackluster effort by Bow Valley, seemed like they expected to win and almost got upset by only winning 5:3. Kudos for the opponents for putting up such a good effort with no coaching staff or order of any kind.
3 Stars:
1. Dwayne Woolliscroft BV (1G, 1A)
2. Christopher Parent BV (1G, 1A)
3. Garrett Taper BV (4 shots, 1G)

Up Next Week: Easy schedule, should hope to see the Buccs back to .500 hockey after this next week. Enjoy the long weekend everybody!
Monday - vs Kilborn Rangers
Wednesday - at Team noname 47508
Friday - vs Team noname 47509
