Woolmer Hill Wyverns† - Close but not quite
The Wyverns travelled to the LIBERATORS hoping that a win over their closest rivals would leapfrog them to the top of the table. The coaches had briefed the team, the newest member of the team was to be blooded and the tactics were chosen.
Sadly the LIBERATORS had been reading from a different script and it was a humbled Wyverns that trudged back into the changing rooms at the end of the first three goals down and looking haggered.
Whatever was said in that changing room seemed to do the trick and the Wyverns came out and scored three in reply, sadly conceding another.
It bode well for a spectacular third with the scores seperated by just one, and it was the home team that edged it bagging another with three minutes in the period left, despite being outshot by a fully stretched Wyverns team.
'The result was so close to the one we wanted.' Said ADAM RANSOM manager of the Wyverns. 'I'm proud of the guys performance, maybe we could have tweaked the tactics. All I know is we look forward to the return game!'
Head coach SAROUN was less happy. 'The team played acceptable hockey, maybe not forward line, but the finishing was very poor. No excuses, now we only train hard to win.'
Despite the set back, the Wyverns march on.
