Storbritanien Huddersfield Harriers† - Davenport Center Sindjelic celebrates career milestone

Davenport Devils' Center Nebojsa Sindjelic, was inducted into the team's Hall of Fame tonight as he celebrated the 600th regular season game of his career.

The veteran forward has had a stellar career spanning 19 seasons in his native Serbia, Romania, the Czech Republic, Sweden and the UK. During this time he has notched up a stunning 893 points (389 Goals, 504 Assists) in 794 games in all competitions, including the CWC and CL in his younger days.

Tonight was Sindjelic's 66th appearance in the red and yellow of the Davenport team after signing as an unrestricted free agent from old league rivals Piesaldeta Ola. He was named as the Devils' Assistant Captain at the start of this season in recognition of his role in leading the team to promotion and keeping them in II.div, and despite his advancing years he still holds fourth-place on the Devils scoring leaderboard this season with 13 goals and 18 assists in all competitions.

When interviewed after the game about his future, the 35-year-old said that he hopes to stay in Davenport for at least one or two more seasons before hanging up his skates. "This is a great young team" he said, "I know that there are some great young Centers on the roster [Vratko Majer, 22, and Olgierd Dobrzanski, 20] who will be snapping at my heels but I've got plenty left in the tank for now and a lot of experience to pass on".

The Devils finished 12th in the standings as the regular season closed tonight, marking a successful first season in II.4 division. GM Jim Apollinaire was quoted after the game saying "Our main goal was to stay up after we won promotion, we've done that and more so we're looking forward to battling it out in the post-season and developing our young squad into playoff contenders over the next two seasons. Then it will be time to take on the big boys".
