Rockwall Rangers† - Rockwall Ranger's Post-Game Press Conference 25-12-2011
Transcript from Rockwall Ranger’s Post-Game Press Conference at the Rockwall Center (25-12-2011 after a 0-18 Loss versus H.C. Martigny in a friendly Game).
(General Manager Nicholas Nix)
Good evening and thank you all for joining us here while we wish we could have done better tonight. It is what it is. I don’t want to keep everyone here to long since it is Christmas so I would like to remind the press of that fact, as well as our staff.
Now, I would like to give our Coach a chance to speak, Coach Alonso.
Thank you (Coach Alonso)
Q. Tonight was a disaster 0-18 loss, what do you have to say about tonight’s performance.
A. It was bad, really bad. However, we knew going into tonight’s game that it was nearly impossible for us to beat this team that is ranked so high. We really wanted to go out there and get some training for some of our younger guys and try some new tactics. H.C. Martigny is a great team and they proved that again tonight.
Q. H.C. Martigny is a team you will face again on Tuesday, can we expect to the same out come then.
A. I can not see into the future, all I can say is that they are a great team.
Q. Was there any good points in tonight’s game?
A. We kept the penalties down to 2.
Q. Would you comment on Balsera, it seems every night he is at least getting one penalty and tonight he got the only two of the game?
A. Fran is a good kid, he just a little too excitable and he forgets what is important to the team as a whole. We will be working with Fran and a few others of this issue.
Q. This was the first time you have used three lines with the Rangers, what did you think aside from the lost about working only three lines instead of four?
A. Well, it is a change of pace for them, and I think everybody should note that the fourth line left out tonight included our Captain, and our two alternates. We really wanted to see what the rest of the team could do and they showed us something despite all the problems.
Q. Will the team be playing three lines tomorrow?
A. That is yet to determined.
Q. Across the board this team did bad tonight face-offs, shots, offensive zone time, outside of penalties, it was a horrible night would you agree?
A. From a fans stand point yes of course. But remember this is just a friendly, don’t read too much into it.
Q. Will you be going with Alvides, or Mimbrero tomorrow?
A. Mimbrero.
Q. Does tonights performance affect that choice?
A. No, I moved Vicente up for Sunday’s game, since Ramon was experiencing some soreness after Saturday’s game, so now we are going back to the rotation.
Q. Was the soreness anything serious?
A. No but he asked for the change, and since it was a friendly we felt it was for the best.
Q. Tomorrow is a game against the Rapita Dolphins, a team that is going through bankruptcy and has lost its owners, does that make it any easier?
A. No since it is a league game, I feel sorry for their players due to their uncertainty of the future and their organization, but I know they will not feel sorry for us tomorrow night, so I am night writing a W next to this game yet.
Thank you, I will now turn the mic, over to our G.M. (Coach Alonso)
Thank you (G.M. Nix)
Again notice of promotional nights:

December 31st H.C. Bukvice Brno Game – Retired Numbers Hat Night.
I will now take some questions.
Q. You came out today and announced the addition of Union Deportiva Mairena del Aljarafe as part of the Nix Sports Group, how will this affect the Rockwall Rangers?
A. In a post way, since we will have the ability to expand combined revenues from both organizations, as we currently do with our two minor league teams.
Q. Does the Nix Sports Group, plan to expand again in the near future?
A. Always, we are always thinking of expansion and growth, but to answer your question. If the near future is better stated due we have any other teams we are in negotiations to buy right now, the answer is no.
Q. Was their any truth to the Nix Sports Group buying a baseball team?
A. Yes, and we would still love to own a Baseball Franchise unfortunately we have not had any luck on finding the right match for us.
Q. The report was that the Nix Sports Group was even looking in the Texas Collegiate League, do you care to verify that?
A. Yes, we did but again we did not find a match suitable.
Q. Where is the Nix Sports Group currently looking for a Baseball Club?
A. I have to say no comment, actually I do have a comment, everywhere.
Q. A lot of companies that expand rapidly find themselves in insolvency, is this a concern of the Nix Sports Group?
A. Of course it is, but we have to continue expanding and weighing the Risk. As of now we are deep in the black.
Q. Tonight’s attendance was around 400, and Saturday’s was less than 400, granted one section is closed due to expansion, but is expansion necessary considering the low attendance.
A. Tonight’s attendance was 407, before expansion we could only seat 400 so we would of sold out tonight. Is growth needed, of course this team deserves it. The stadium has been greatly improved, but it can still be better.
Q. How much longer will it be till the current improvements are finished?
A. Section A, B, & C will be ready in three days, and the rest of the sections including A, B, & C will have installations of various food and sales stands for the next 15 days.
Q. How will all this construction affect the fans?
A. Some sections will not have access, but for the most part the fans will not have as many issues as were see prior to the rededication.
Those are all the questions we will be taking for now.
Thank you for all your questions and good night. (G.M. Nix)
