US: Ken, how would you rate this season?
KF: Definitely a success. Any time you have a major transition in leadership, you just want to avoid implosion. I'm really proud of the way our guys stepped up and maintained where they were.
US: Speaking of that, what do you think of the new leadership style?
KF: It's a lot to get used to, but it's already worked, and it's going to work a lot more. Now that we're in the playoffs, he's got us all focused on the goal of winning.
US: You're going up against a very strong team in the Woodchucks. Realistically, do you even have a chance?
KF: Whenever I get to the point where I don't think we even have a chance, then I'll ask coach to put me on the bench! (laughs) But seriously, if you have guys committed to working hard on special teams play, and blocking shots, and getting a good offense going...there's always a chance.
US: Tell me: who's the best player on this team?
KF: Oh man, that's not fair! OK, I'll mention a couple: Mark Lilly is great. He's always putting his best effort in. You never see him take a play off. Romeo (Brenner) is a goal-scoring machine when he gets hot. Heath (Koenig) is your consistent guy; always good for a point. And his brother Chris is our best defensemen.
US: What's the relationship like between you and backup Fred Goheen? He was widely expected to start this season until you came along.
KF: No, everything's great between us! He's a stand-up guy, and we only wish the best for each other.
US: What are your final thoughts for tomorrow night's series opener?
KF: We're going to have to play them hard and smart tactically, and I need to be able to see the puck and play it well to start a good rush up the ice. It should be fun!
US: Thanks for your time, Ken, and good luck!
