Brampton Capitals† - Capitals News
Yesterday the Brampton Capitals won their game against Gladiateurs de St-Jean, keeping their quest for the III.2 league title alive. The race, which is still in the early going, has been knocked down to 3 teams tied for first. The Brampton Capitals, Bresse Nordique and the very team that eliminated Brampton from the playoffs last year, Actus.
The tilt between Brampton and St-Jean was a fairly lop sided score, as Brampton won 7 to 1.
The game saw Unai Gil score for the first time since Friday, and when Olympic TV caught up with him, Brampton's scorer had these words to say: "Thank goodness! It felt really bad not being able to get any goals over the weekend. I just went out there tonight and fired the puck at the net as much as possible and it resulted in 2 goals. I'm just glad we won and we can keep our among the top in this league."
Assistant captain Brad Barton also notched 3 assists in this game and was asked to comment on how he feels the team is doing. "We have a great droup of guys here. The team has changed dramatically since last season and I think it's been for the best. We're playing better hockey and managment has continued to be able to expand and improve our facilities as a result of us winning and getting people to come out to the game. In fact, I've heard rumors that they are talking about expanding the seating yet again to meet the demand for tickets."
Of course, Brad Barton started swirling rumors by saying that, so Olympic TV went to team owner mrnegative15 to get some clarification. When approached on the topic, mrnegative15 let the cat out of the bag: "Yes. Brad was telling the truth. As you know we started expantion on the Poweade centre prior to the season in order to make room for a multifunctional section. Of course, that left us a large portion of open room, so we have decided to open up the south end for standing room only. This will open room for 250 fan to come for a very affordable price. Here at the Capitals we really want to make sure we can give options to fans who have all different budgets. We want to share our team and our sport with the community, not put it at a price point that excludes some people. We're not out there to be snobs and only take corporate money for seasons tickets and make it next to impossible to get to a Capitals game. So with that in mind, we made this decision. It will take about 10 days for the sction to be ready. We've sent e-mails out to people on our waiting list for season tickets, and we will open 150 of the tickets up to be available for season ticket and part season ticket packages."
Next up for the Capitals: a friendly against Mexican club GDL Scorpions at their home rink, GDL Areana in Mexico CIty. The GDL Scorpions are the defending regular season and playoff champions of Mexico's IV.9 league.
