Kanada JSF Lightning† - FT. Yoshi: Volume 2, Issue 1

After a very lengthy discussion with team exceutives, the new banner and jerseys were unveiled last night at Yoshi's Castle. At the ceremony, Manager Alvin (a.k.a. ftyoshi) told the press that it was finally time to show off the true colours of Ft. Yoshi.

The logo consists of a Yoshi head flanked with two eggs, representative of the explosive nature of the forwards on Ft. Yoshi's team. The jerseys, both home and away, will have offsetting white/green shades both with the logo of Yoshi on the front.

Upon being asked about the timing of the release, Manager ftyoshi replied:

"Given the team's success under the name, we decided that it would be a nice boost to the team for the second half of the season. Playing for Ft. Yoshi should be their pride and joy and with the new jerseys with our friendly green dinosaur emblazoned on it, they can now show off their fighting spirits in our climb to the champions of the league!"

The timing of the jersey was also instrumental as we saw the most anticipated match of the season today with Ft. Yoshi travelling to the Samsung Centre to take on Kingfisher Kokanee. Coming into the game with a single point separating the two teams from 1st and 2nd, Ft. Yoshi shone in their new uniforms before grinding out a 4-2 road victory.

Ft. Yoshi was led by Lihovac and Okking who both finished with 1 goal and 1 assist apiece. Stuchlich was brilliant in net stopping 27 of 29 shots for the victory, nicely rebounding from his last outing against the 4th ranked Juniors of Montreal in which he gave up 4 goals on 23 shots. Luckily, they Ft. Yoshi players were on bang on with their accuracy. Managing only 15 shots on goal, this was the lowest total of the season. However, they were able to knock 4 goals in past a helpless Sacha Devigne, who saw his save % drop and GAA increase drastically after this performance.

With the 4-2 win, Ft. Yoshi is now 4 points up on 2nd place Kingfisher Kokanee, who has the rival Sarnia Stealth hot on their tail with 50 points.

If this is any indicator of how the season will continue, hopefully the new jerseys and logos can bring Ft. Yoshi a championship trophy at the end.
