Credit tournament play has not gone well for Brampton as the Capitals have yet to win a game in the 2009/10 Canada Cup. The Capitals only have 2 games left in the tourney and will most likely not make the cut to the elimination round. While there is still hope, Brampton would need to beat Stoney Creek Saints and the Guelph Gryphons, 2 great GTA teams. On top of that they would need to win by big margins as they are -12 in goal differential. Stay tuned.
Speaking of the Guelph Gryphons, The Capitals will be seeing them alot in the next few weeks. January 9th marks a Canada Cup game between the 2 teams, then on the weekend of January 23 and 24 the 2 teams fill face off again in a mini series of friendly games.
Continuing on the Tournament front, Brampton pulled out a win yesterday to advance to round 4 of the national cup. The draw for their next opponent will be held later today.
Speaking of "later today": Brampton in on the road in league play. They will head to chillin' arena to play Entourage. This game is very important as the Capitals have slipped to 7th place in III.2 but remain just 5 points out of 1st place. A win today could help their chances to move back up in the standings as spots 3 to 7 are all within 3 points of each other.
The news was released yesterday that bids to host the world championships will soon be accepted, Canada has been looking for 4 arenas. Brampton has decided to enter the Powerade Centre into the bid, but in order to do so the Powerade Centre needed a bit of upgrading, so construction has begun. The north east corner of the Powerade Centre will be adding a 300 seat increase, which when completed will bring the seating in the Powerade Centre up to 1550. Also, the entire south and west sides of the arena will be adding new snack bars as well at team shops. In addition to these overhauls, the Capitals invested in some of their facilities. The maitanence centre, education centre, human resources and economics department and, sports academy have all been upgraded.
A big way to start the new year for the Capitals, who continue to look to the future of hockey not only in Brampton, but on a national stage for Canada as well.
