Bow Valley Buccaneers† - Buccs Bounty - Season 4 Issue 1
Week 1 of season 4 was not very kind to the Bow Valley Buccaneers, newcomers to league III.2. The team has yet to find it's groove as they have not been able to put the puck in the net, only scoring 5 goals all week, good for 16th in the league. Worst yet is the dismal shooting percentage of 6.25, which is only better than one team in the league. Couple that with a schizophrenic start to goalie Janez Grašič's season and we should be happy to come out of this week with 3 points. The Buccs are currently sitting in 13th place, with a record of 1-2. 3 games were played in the opening week, as well as 4 friendly games vs Pollo Hockey and Thunderwolves.
Game 1 - Buccaneers at Fedidit Rangers
Season opener, the Buccs were very excited and optimistic to get their season going. Coming in with most of the team intact from season 3, with some minor changes internally, the most recognizable one being the promotion of backup Janez Grašič to the role of starter, after the departure of top goalie winner John Jobling at season's end. He didn't disappoint this game, saving 29 shots, but the team could not find the back of the net, with captain Brad Clark being the only goal scorer for Bow Valley, and they fell 2:1 to the Rangers.

Game 2 - Montreal's Canadiens at Bow Valley
The Buccs home opener was not at all what the fans and the team wanted. Low expectations by the fans for this season resulted in only 233 fans showing up to watch their team, and they went home very disappointed. A slow start, terrible PK, bad goaltending and overall lousy effort resulted in a 8:1 blowout by the Canadiens. The Canadiens were much stronger throughout the game, ending Janez Grašič's night early by scoring 5 times in 15 shots over 40 minutes. They were bigger, tougher, more experienced and just embarrassed our Buccaneers on home ice.

Game 3 - Buccaneers at Toronto Legends
Going into the Air Canada Center on Friday night, the Buccaneers were not too confident. A terrible start to the season and now facing one of the top teams in III.2, the Toronto Legends, there wasn't much to look forward to for the Buccs. Things started out as expected, with the Legends taking a 1:0 lead after 20 minutes. But the Buccs persevered in those final 40, outshooting the Legends 18:14 and coming up with a 3:2 win. The top guns for Bow Valley really showed up on friday, with goals by Cheda, Moncur and the game winner by the Aussie Garrett Taper. Shocked fans left the ACC wondering what happened to the Legends in those final 40 minutes, but fans of the Buccaneers didn't care; they just got their first win in league III.2. Here's to hoping they can continue that luck into next week!
