Stoney Creek Saints† - The Halo - Vol2, Issue 1 - December 6, 2010
After a long hiatus, everyone's favorite newsletter covering the Stoney Creek Saints is back! It's been a while, and mostly because the GM of the Saints, saint2e, has been notoriously silent in speaking to the press. That all changed with a surprise presss conference after today's 4-1 win over the Kamloops Blazers.
"First of all, i'd like to apologize for my recent unwillingness to speak with the press." saint2e started off saying. "The reason being was that I wanted to focus on our team, and right the things that were holding us back."
saint2e was immediately asked to comment on what those things were. "Well, the defense and the depth were certainly lacking. Our scoring is superb, and always has been, but we left our defense as a secondary which will not take you to higher levels of competition. We made an investment in some players to augment and support our defensive corp, and I assure you that your favorite existing defensemen will be around for the foreseeable future."
When asked about the new staff acquisitions, saint2e replied enthusiastically, "We've been really pleased with the new staff that have come in and really improved the training of our players. The change in training has been dramatic and we feel confident that going forward, we will be able to keep up with the top teams in the country."
Picking up on saint2e's comment about the top teams, the topic of promotion was brought up. "Promotion?", saint2e responded, with a sly grin on his face, "Right now we're primarily concerned about success at this level and getting home ice advantage for the playoffs. Right now, I have no comment on promotion, except that we are planning on emulating The Jeffersons".
saint2e had some final thoughts to add before bringing the conference to a close: "These are exciting times here at Saints Hockey Club. The team is winning, we have an exciting crop of players and prospects, our facilities are coming along, and our plans for the Arena are ambitious. Clearly it is an exciting time to be a Saints fan, and we hope that we will continue to provide an exciting team on the ice, as well as value in our facilities for the fans attending our games. Thank you."
