Kanada Royal City Redshift - Gryph News - Vol 4 Issue 2: Season 5, The Half-Way Mark

Another 19 games played, another 19 games to go. The Gryphons find themselves in 9th place, a single point back of 8th and 11 points back of first. There have been lots of chances since the last installment of Gryph News. The Gryphons have seen bodies come and go, including some notable staff and players. Consistency has been an issue as the Gryphons have not won more then 3 in a row but have yet to lose more then 2 in a row. Defenceman Ian Newell is leading the team with 15 points followed closely behind by Bowry and Bruce with 14 points. Bowry has taken the role of Gryphon sniper, his 10 goals in 19 games is 2 more then next nearest Bruce and nearly double the third place shooter. Teodor Vaverka has been a model 2-way player with a team-leading +6 rating while four players are tied for the team-worst rating of -3. In goal, Newton has carried much of the work load once again with Garnett seeing a few games here and there.

In other news, both Gryphon goalies are now members of Team Canada. Alongside the long-time national Tim Newton, Ian Garnett was not only selected to represent Canada this season, but has been declared the back-up to star goalie Noah Tierney.

"This is a very exciting time for me in my career. There are not too many players who get to throw on the Canadian jersey and it is not something I will take lightly. The Gryphon organization has been very good to me and have helped me reach my full potential. I hope my hard work here and with Canada can earn me some more games here at the club level" said Garnett from the Gryphon Training Center where he is in the middle of a week-long training camp.

As far as new prospects go, Gryphon management are very excited about 3 center prospects. Steve "Magnum" Magditsch, Braden "Butterball" Dubeau and Whitney "The Future" Barwell are all highly-touted prospects that have even cracked the lineup of 11th ranked club.
