Redshift are pleased to announce a contractual agreement has been reached between the organization and Guelph's ironman, Guy Richard. Richard has been a fixture for the Gryphons/Redshift, featuring in all league and top-8 playoff games the franchise has ever played in.

"We have signed Guy for three seasons, outside of that the terms of the deal will not be disclosed. Guy is a key part of our leadership group and with the abundance of youth on our team, especially on the blueline, it is critical to keep him around to lead our team and our youth. We are pleased to have him committed for another three years" said the Redshift PR representative.

The Redshift have really been struggling this season, winless in their last 6 games and only 2 wins through the first 10 games of the season.

"It's been a bit of a rough go so far for players and fans alike. We will get through it. We've lost a lot of close games this year and we've committed to eachother to win all the battles. We can't rely on our goalies night-in and night-out to steal us games. It starts with the veterans on the club, myself included. My contractual issues were never a distraction for me, but it will be nice to go to the rink knowing my teammates, my girlfriend and our fans know that this is behind us and we can move forward. I never wanted to be anywhere else so naturally I'm thrilled to be here and continue my career with a first-class franchise" said Guy.

While exact terms of the deal were not discussed, sources inside the team say that Guy took a pay-cut to stay in Guelph for the next 3 seasons. It just goes to show how bad he wanted to stay in the Royal City.
