Kanada Royal City Redshift - Royal City Spectra - V6E1: Redshift Splash the Cash on Slovakian Youngster

The Royal City Redshift are very pleased to announce the signing of Adrián Lučanský from Slovakia III.12's ŠK Liptov. The reported transfer cost is $100,000,000 and a record for canucks357 Sports and Entertainment whose previous record was $82M spent in season 10 on hockey defenceman Will Rupp while the soccer franchise's record purchase was for $35M shared between GK Rod MacNeil and striker Vincent Sharrard both in season 5. The transfer is likely the first of many for the boys in red.

"We're thrilled to usher in a new area for the Redshift. The fans have been patient as we've spent years perfecting the infrastructure necessary to properly display and nurture a world-class team. I'm pleased to announce that today was the first step towards putting that team on the ice" said canucks357.

There is concern that the young Adrián Lučanský cannot speak English from some critics of the purchase.

"Lučanský will be made to feel at home here. Both myself and Dobs (Dobroslav Felbar) will make every effort to familiarize him with the Canadian culture and that includes learning at least basic English" said Juraj Langhoffer, one of the Reds' top defenceman and only 22 years old.

"He is an amazing talent for his age. He is only 16 years old and already at the level of our club's 17 year olds with potential unseen since Braden Debeau (now captain) came from the academy in August of 2010. I think it's wonderful to have acquired such a player and I hope the fans enjoy watching him develop into a true superstar" said the Reds' longest serving player and world-wide phenom Tim Newton. "He shows promise in all aspects of an offensive game and is equally adapt at playing either win and even center. Don't be surprised if he starts taking regular shifts in league play should we find ourselves out of the hunt for a playoff spot."

Management was then asked what else the future may hold. The reply was as follows (via canucks357):

"Well, we have the money to finalize our academy development which will all but wrap up our infrastructure investment. That would bring our total investment since day 1 to over $3.2B in infrastructure investments. We feel we'll be happy at this level and will slowly but methodically add the on-ice pieces to the puzzle. There'll be a lot of chance on the ice, but we think the fans will come to love what they will see. They're patient, we just hope they'll stand by us through the next few seasons."

What about staying in the top division is the question on the mind of many.

"We, first and foremost, wish to secure a playoff spot among Canada's elite. Should we fall short on our goal. We will likely bid farewell to many of our long-serving players and bow out gracefully into the second division where we'll develop a younger team. It would be unfair to our older players to sit idle while a younger team takes the ice and out of respect we'll give them the choice whether to stay or go. We suspect some will stay. We suspect many may go. Heck, we may even see some come back to Guelph when other Canadian teams play here. It's certainly not out of the question that some players so immersed in Canadian culture would find homes with other Canadian teams... even the Biznows out in BC. Granted, I suspect they may purchase one, even just to torture information out of them to learn what it takes to win titles. I would be surprised. The Biznows manager hangs out with BeetBout and he's a shady character. I once saw him break a gentleman's agreement just so he could get a leg up in an online pool. That guy is shadier than a maple tree on stilts" said canucks357.

As far as league play goes, the Reds have been as streaky as they come. They lost their opening 4, won their next 7, lost their next 6 and won their last game. It could be a trying season for fans but if today was any indication, its that the future is certainly bright at Veterans Memorial Arena.
