Kanada Royal City Redshift - Gryph News - Vol 3 Issue 17: Gryphons Secure a Play in Canada's I.1 in Season 5

The Guelph Gryphons have salvage their season after a disastrous ending to the regular season play. The Gryphons swept FlyingHeadz, a team which they had never beaten before, in two games... all be it both games being won by a slim one-goal margin.

"I feel like I am responsible for the way the season ended" said Head Coach Stubbs. "I wanted to work in some new players to the lineup, some youth to get experience. We were sitting healthy near the top of the standings at the time and slowly slipped after that. There comes a point in time where you need a changing of the guard as players age and new players take up the slack. After missing the playoffs I went back to my veterans and they came through when it was needed. Next season I wish to move some more youth into the lineup but in steps to avoid a slide like this season. It was live and learn for our team this year, not just the players but staff as well."

The Gryphons will now play MaGoo HC to continue their quest to secure a 9th place finish this season. There are some rumblings that there may be major personnel changes coming the way of the Gryphons. People close to management say that as many as 30 players could be getting their transfer papers at the end of the season, including some notable names. When asked about this manager Mark Clode simply said "it is not my place to comment on the exact details, but any team would be lying if they said they were not making any changes in the off-season."

Captaining the team through the playoffs has been Antoine Slater, who has picked up a minor injury but will play through it in tomorrow's first game of the second round of the placement playoffs. Tim Newton was steady when called upon and expect more veteran leadership from the core group moving forward in the coming weeks.
