It was pretty quiet in the visitors dressing room on Friday after the the Hudson Black Bears lost to the 2nd place Explosions unrelenting offensive juggernaut.

"Look at the shot count, 37-19." said Bears GM Ed Darkker, emerging from a post game, closed door team meeting. "It was a massacre. We put on a defensive clown show and if it wasn't for (new Bears goalie) Dāvis Cibulis we lose in regulation. Easily".

The rookie GM continued, "This is a new league now. There are major contenders with talented players and serious training and development programs out there now. We can't expect to coast on a few early seasons wins forever"

When asked if he feels if his club has stalled or stumbled after some questionable management decisions and a fading early season surge, Darkker grinned and replied, "No, I like where we are. 1st place works for me. Fact is, with teams like Explosion and Goldfish and some of the the other quality newcomers we've yet to meet - we're seeing some amazing hockey at this level and the competition is only going to get better. Win or lose, any day is a great day for hockey - but of course, we'd rather win - so we'll be looking for you next time".
