A closely-fought game watched by a capacity crowd of 550 at Bexley Arena saw the Taipans edge the Bulldogs out 3-2 after a tense penalty shootout, the only goal of which came with the final shot.

Coach Oswin was understandably delighted that his team had got back to winning ways after a tough run of fixtures and was pleased with the effort from the whole team. He did, however, pick out for praise the two-goal debut of Sergio Espina, saying, 'That's exactly why we brought him in - you can see the quality he has'.

Coach Oswin was asked about his two other recent signings, both of whom he had sneaked in under the radar and unleashed against the Bulldogs. 'Karsten (Liebke) is someone we hope and expect will be lighting the lamp for us, whilst Heinrich (Schiebel) has the ability to find anyone in space. I am sure that both will build on their debuts and become important players for the club'.

Liebke recorded an impressive 15 points in 10 games for Tormituul, scoring 7 goals in the process. Schiebel had an assist from 9 games with limited ice time for HK Eagles. The Taipans resume their league campaign on Friday with the visit of the all-conquering Stockport Sabres.
