Tire Irons† - Debut Season For Tire Irons Exceeds Manager Expectations
Tire Irons manager Nova Collision spent the two seasons prior to their debut in league III.1 on a campaign to prepare his team for the rigours of promotion. After a well fought battle against the Maple Leafs of Sarnia that resulted in a Tire Irons victory by a very small margin, manager Nova Collision voiced his second thoughts about his race to promotion. The economic advantages versus the stiffer competition had yet to be revealed and the last thing the entire team wanted was to bounce between tiers.
However, as the season went on and the confidence of the team grew in the new tier the Tire Irons surprised themselves by fighting a battle for the last playoff spot. Ultimately they were pushed down to a ninth place finish in the regular season and an eleventh place finish overall, but at the post game press conference once their matchup against the Sarnia Stealth had concluded, Nova Collision expressed his pleasure and congratulations to his team and noted their bright future in the new league.
Speaking of future plans, the Tire Irons are in the midst of a renovation of their arena that will see their total attendance more than double and have worked very hard with the youth in their territory to develop future talent. Already young stars are emerging in the top lines, notably power forwards Colten Kendall and Beau Garneau and one of the league's top scoring defensemen Joe McCaughan. Fan expectations of the Tire Irons are higher than ever and Nova Collision has promised a playoffs appearance for the team in the next season. Whether or not he will be able to deliver has yet to be seen, but after a solid performance this season it seems that the Tire Irons are here to stay.
