The Sorae Mackenzies have long been criticized as a team that couldn't win big games. Critics point to surprisingly early cup exits and abysmal playoff records as reasons not to expect this team to perform well when the pressure is on. This season has changed all of that.

The team only escaped the first round because of home ice advantage and then had an easier time in the second round.

The team made a goaltending change in game 1 and seemed to relax a little. Despite not scoring, they were still happy with the close result. After the first game, the team also discovered that if they lost the series, they would still likely have an easy qualifier against former II.1 powerhouse, but not ownerless team HC Ice Forsage.

Game 2 shocked the world as the Mackenzies unveiled a new arena upgrade, and the team wowed the record crowd by shelling the league's best goalie with 9 goals, a feat no other team has ever accomplished.

Both teams came to play in game 3. The Mackenzies scored first, but ATREIDES came back tying the game with a short-handed goal. The Mackenzies would score next and somehow withstand a barrage of pressure to win the game.

While Azerbaijan mourns their loss, all of Korea, South and North is rejoicing in the victory.
