Cambridge Kickstart† - Kickstart race to playoff berth in first campaign!
The Cambridge Kickstart, in their inaugural season, have ridden the stellar goaltending of rookie netminder Rafal Zareba to an eighth place finish in the regular season of League IV.11. Since being acquired February 20th Zareba is 11-1, has a GAA of 1.41 and a 92.34 save Percentage. He ended up 4th in goalie stats and has 5 3ss with 3 shutouts.
Emile Gignac, the new head coach of the Kickstart, credits much of the team's early success to the play of the 16 year old backstop. "I arrived in Cambridge the day after management acquired Rafi on the Player Market from Polonia Laziska of League IV.11 in Poland for $1.5M with a 420 OR. I mean, he's mobile enough we almost think of him as a third D-man back there. The team has really rallied around the young netminder in his rookie season, even the players who we brought in after he arrived.I guess he wants to show he belongs in this league in a #1 spot and is determined to stay there. We acquired 20 year old Adrian Macias as a steadying force for Rafi and so far it's working very well."
Manager happyhal also commented, "we jumped right in to the market not only to find a goalie, but to fill some major gaps we had in the lineup overall and we're very happy with the way it's turned out at this point. We got Ambrus Hauser for $20K from the King City Cruisers and he fit right in on the top line ending up 5th in the scoring race. With 8 guys in the top 50, we're looking forward to the playoffs. I have to give a lot of credit also to veteran manager BigDaddyB, one of the more experienced managers in Canada, with helping get our program under way. He certainly has a wealth of knowledge about the game and developing a club from the ground up. Our sponsors are very happy with the outlook.
