It was April 11th, 2011. Fierce rivals and I.1 leaders les Nicol Bolas were in town. It would be another battle between Newton and Ludlam. However, this night would forever be remembered for it's magic by Teodor Vaverka.

Vaverka was acquired by the Gryphons on May 26th, 2009 for just shy of $1,000,000. At the time he was a major long-term investment by the Gryphons and really their first dip into the transfer market.

Well, 685 days and 6 seasons later, Vaverka reached the momentous 200 point plateau. Dwayne Pipe, commentator for Gryph Radio 810 called the play.

"There's just over seven minutes left in the third period here at Veterans Memorial Arena with this tight game tied 3-3. The hometown Guelph Gryphons have locked les Nicol Bolas in the offensive zone on the power play. Brady "The Cannonade" Clench and Teodor "Czech Mate" Vaverka quickly exchange the puck to shake the top penalty killer. Teodor "Czech Mate" Vaverka skates towards the goal, toe-drags a defender, slides it through the legs of the last defender. He's in alone. Vaverka with a chance to win. He dishes a saucer pass over to the unmarked Antoine "AC" Slater on the doorstep. Antoine "AC" Slater shoots quickly and scores!!! The puck squeezed underneath Ludlam's arm and found the back of the net. That was a good looking power play combination that gives the Gryphons a late 4-3 lead."

And with that late-game heroics, Vaverka reached the 200 point plateau. To date, Vaverka has rallied 280 points between league, cup and playoff games. He may not carry a letter on his jersey, but he is a leader for this team.

"I'm very pleased to have reached the 200 point milestone. I had been in a bit of a slump in years past but this season I've found my scoring touch" said Vaverka who leads the team with 7 goals and 19 points.

To honour his achievement, the Gryphons will hold a ceremony prior to today's game against Les Sanguinaires. Former teammate and best friend Oskar Vejr will be flying in from Hlavní město Praha in Czech Replublic where we was transferred for over 14.5 million - the most expensive sale to date.

"Teodor help me very much with my game. He make me the center I am now. I am thrilled to be coming back to support him in this event" said Oskar.

Even other managers from around the country called in to express their congratulations. Aowyr, manager of The Moderately Neato said

"He's a world-class player. The type of player every team wishes they had."

Aowyr, despite the constant banter between his clubs and canucks357's clubs, has always been a supporter of canucks357's teams and the two will continue the friendly banter in the future no doubt. But on a day like today, all eyes will be on Teodor.

Manager saint2e of the Stoney Creek Saints, a future I.1 team, said when asked about Vaverka's influence on young Czech defender František Římal (and I quote), "obviously a player reaching a milestone like that is amazing. He has been a force for the Gryphons in the past, and obviously is still able to contribute on the ice and in the locker room. We can only hope that Frantisek can use Vaverka as inspiration and strive to be a key part of our organization."

With that being said, it is time to leave the talking to the players, as there is a mere 80 minutes until game time. A full crowd is anticipated to witness this historic event.
