Gryph News - Final Edition: Transition to a New Era
Chem. Valley Contaminated† - TMO News
Another season is in the books. With the Neato finishing third in the season and fourth in the playoffs. Manager Aowyr was happy with his teams performance. "We tried to make it further but we had to play the team that for some reason we just couldn't beat." He is talking about Yellowshirt, who they had lost to both times in season play. "They play a similar game as us. They just execute better I guess." Even with season seven behind them things are looking up.
A new television sponsor and general team sponsor has been signed after the first day of bargaining. "It's not too often companies come into your board room and plop down an excellent contract right in front of you. All I had to do is find the line where to sign" Aowyr said with a smile. We can't confirm exact numbers but they did release that it is roughly around a 40% increase. And that money will be put to good use as last season seen not one arena upgrade and hardly any movement on the facility front. "We were hardly getting by. The money we made before meant we had to save up for five or more weeks just to afford construction costs for a facility upgrade. It's pretty hard to hold onto money that long when your trying to shore up your team."
The big acquisition this past season was goaltender Aiden Lormor. Touted to possibly be taking over as starting goaltender soon enough from Kasper Bojarski. It would be quite the shoes to fill since Kasper has been netminding for the Neato since season 4. "Aiden is the future. Kasper is great and will always be a big part of our history. but Aiden is young and strong and progressing at a great pace." Look for aiden getting some starts next season to start building up his experience on the ice!
Lastly we asked Aowyr about the Guelph Gryphons recent overhaul. "Well they got some new name with a rocket on it. And some candy striper uniforms. Hopefully it works well for them. He is always welcome to come into our offices, especially since we will see him from the 401!" he said followed by a chuckle.
