Telford Flyers† - Are The Flyers Ready?
With the two most important games of their short careers just around the corner, The players and fans of the Telford Flyers can begin to dream about a season in the II.
But the fans may want it, but are the current crop of players ready to make that step. Manager Matt Owen has reportedly had his scouts attending games up and down the country to get an idea of what they can expect next year. IF and thats a big if with a solid Boruta Zgierz team, with II expirience already under their wings, to overcome.
The flyers have some quality young players slowly developing within their ranks, with the likes of Drew Green, Martin Ainsworth and the more expirienced Keiron Irons and Albert Bronikowski clearly ready to make the jump to the next level. But is there really the strength in depth required for what is promised to be a battle against religation next season.
The main question marks remain on the Flyers contingent of talented youngsters, players like Ronnie Champion, Mark Ruddy and Christopher Perrett, who are all destined for greater things well away from the III level. But at such a tender young age, are they ready to make that leap NOW.
The next two games will give everyone an idea of where the Flyers stand as they rest upon the presapis of II and III, will the fans consider another year at the III level or does the demand for a higher level of hockey drive the Flyers players and management towards making that step sooner rather than lately. Can the Flyers afford to take their time in making the next step, with teams like Coventry Blaze, Double Triptych and Glasgow Kings improving at a rate of knots and clearly ready to push the Flyers all the way, were they to fail this year.
All in all, the next two/three games promise to be a rollercoaster ride for fans of the Flyers, Zgierz and Neutrals alike.
