Today is a day to remember in the history of the Flying Frenchmen Hockey Club. After making it from div 3.2 at the end of the season 3 playoffs, they spent five long seasons in div 2.3, some of them ending very abruptly in the opinion of owner/manager DiMeola.

"It was about time", he said after the close win against Classics. "I spent a lot of time and money to bring this club to the highest level, and now here we are. I hope we can all continue building on this and compete for the biggest title in Canada very soon".

Closely fought against the div 2.3 regular season champions, the finals ended with a 3-1 home win for the FFHC against the Classics, after a nerve-breaking 1-0 away win yesterday. In this last game alone, 44 pucks were shot at Classics' goalie Martindale; only two went in (a third goal was scored in an empty net).

Long time captain of the FFHC, Yannick Crooks, praised his teammates for their constant effort through the season and playoffs. "The round against Xenons has been very demanding", he said, "but we managed to save our very season with this third and last game against them. And then, "Shylock" Sedgley (FFHC all-stard goalie) closed the door. The way he played in the finals was simply incredible".

Asked if changes would be made during the summer, manager DiMeola said some players would certainly be inducted into the FFHC Hall of Fame. Then, he would have to sit with his staff and identify the weaknesses in his team. "Who knows?" he said. "With this job, you can never really just sit and wait. If an opportunity comes up, we might just go and see what the market has to offer".
