The Guelph Gryphons secured the ultimate victory this week when they beat the Vancouver Vanucks in two straight games. The Gryphons earned themselves a spot in Canada's top division next season.

"This is what we were working towards all season. Being a team that many would consider an underdog in the early days, we've come a long ways. Seeing as a month or two into season 1 we were looking at a 10th place finish in III.7 at best. We promptly turned our season around, went on a great run to get home ice in the first round of the playoffs, and eventually was OT away from advancing to II.2. It wasn't in the cards that year but we've gotten better every year since. We got our shot in II.2 and ran with it. The fact we never lost a game in playoffs speaks volumes about our club. We now find ourselves in the top league in the country, where we will truly face the top clubs night in and night out. We will see immediately where we stack up to the rest of the big guns. The fourth season of the Gryphons' franchise will surely be the most exciting yet" said Captain Guy Richard who has played every competitive game in Gryphon history.

The leap to Canada's I.1 comes with a nice almost $11mil payout. The plan with this cash you ask?

"We have just upgraded our Training, Regeneration and Academy facilities. On the horizon is our HR department and a complete revitalization of Veterans Memorial Arena. The fans here in Guelph have supported us better than any other club. Our country leading (and I dare say world leading) average season attendance just goes to show that. So as a club we want to return the favour to them" said Manager Clode. "We also anticipate a large influx of cash through the market tomorrow. We have a few players who don't have the fit we were hoping for here and will be finding new places to play. We wish them the best of luck."

Head Coach Stubbs further commented on the season. "I'll keep it short and sweet here lads just like my wife. I've never been prouder of my guys. We faced tough opposition all year and want to congratulate everyone in II.2 for a marvelous season. All the best to everyone in season 4 and we hope to do battle on the ice once again. Thank-you."

And with that the Gryphons departed for their annual season end retreat, where all the top players go to relax and train for the season to come.
