Woolmer Hill Wyverns† - Wyverns in Fighting Form
HC BELFAST found their way to the Rackfield Arena despite the heavy snow fall in Britain and gave as good as they got in front of a packed crowd of 2000+.
Part of the pre-game entertainment was the introduction to the crowd of WILBUR the clubs new mascot based around the teams new logo which was also unveiled on centre ice. WILBUR proved to be a hit with the kids tonight, many posing for photos with the 7' fluffy WYVERN or rushing to the merchandise stalls for their very own plush toy version.
Once the puck had dropped it was first blood to the WYVERNS as they went in after the first with a two goal lead, but it was HC BELFAST that came out in the second bang on form and meaning business as they struck with a goal that rocked the WYVERNS complacency and forced them to up their game too, claimimng a cancelling goal before the siren sounded.
Again it was HC BELFAST that started brightly with another goal and they continued to pepper HERVE BROCARD's goal further as time dragged on. The WYVERNS finally put the game out of reach with two late goals and the sighs of relief from the coaches could be heard in the stands.
HC BELFAST left the ice to a standing ovation from everyone in the arena. A stella performance of great goals and big hits from both sides.
WYVERN's head coach SAROUN was happier than he has been recently. 'We play well as a team today.' He said. 'We gave stupid penalties, needless penalties. Must work on channeling our agression in more positive ways. You cannot win with only four on ice.'
GM RANSOM was pleased. 'We have a tough double header in the league and this was one I was hoping we might just squeak. We did and we applaud HC BELFAST. They really made us work for the win.'
